Graduates of the branch of study Waste Treatment and Disposal, i.e. technological engineers are able to manage and control, both technically and organizationally, the processes and technologies connected with waste management and disposal. Students are to pass these compulsory subjects: Physical Separation Processes, Non-ferrous Metallurgy Foundations, Biotechnology, Chemical Processes, Flotation, Waste Management, Sewage Treatment, Air Protection, Environmental Impact Assessment. The optional subjects, among other matters, include Foundations of Automation, Water Supply and Management, Toxicology and Harmful Substances in the Environment, Environmental Geochemistry, Applied Geology, Assessment of Waste Properties, Sludge Treatment, Machinery, Foundations of Power Engineering, and Environmental Management. Graduates of this branch of studies have, according to the requirements of the Ministry of the Environment, the qualifications for hazardous waste disposal.
